We had a delicious "High Tea" with a glass of bubbles to set the scene, accompanied by a three tier stand containing, two layers of three different breads with scrumptious fillings. These were in pairs allowing both of us to have the same selection. On the top tier was the sweet selection, jam scone, cream and lemon topping eclair and the most delicious chocolate square - also two of each. We had this at the early time of 12:30 and it served as our very ample lunch. Tea and/or coffee followed. Service was impeccable.
We also took time to look at the accommodation and the surrounding area. This is an older style hotel formerly Sir James Wattie's residence, fully renovated and in top condition with exquisite art.
Rooms were large to suites, very comfortable with drink making facilities (for the early morning cuppa). They have their own free range chickens and some herbs and vegetables in the garden.
Thank you Mangapapa for a first class experience - we will be back.
